Marco Timpano has been working as an actor and writer for the last decade. His work has seen him travel across the globe. With a degree in Broadcast Journalism & Linguistics, Marco has blended both with a strong approach to his career, and garnered attention from critics and fans a like. Below are some highlights in his extensive career thus far.
Actor – Having received critical attention for the role of Howie in the Toronto Premier of Rabbit Hole. Recently featured on CTV’s The Listener. Marco won a Canadian Comedy Award for his portrayl of Eileen Louise Kennedy in his show entitled 'One Woman Show’. Marco has portrayed historic figures; Adalberto Marino and Justice Riddell in two historical dramas.
Writer – Currently writing for the series; "An Espresso with Vito" based on his character Vito Cazzolungo. Marco together with his wife Amanda Barker, have written the short; "Harper Puppet Pals". He was a senior writer on the nationally syndicated comedy show “Out There with Melissa Di Marco”. Marco also co-wrote the award winning play One Woman Show. His writings have appeared the international magazine COLORS.
Comedian – Winner of the 2009 Canadian Comedy Award for Best One Person show. Winner of the Steam Whistle Producers’ Pick Award for his sketch troupe Shame Is Right! 2008 Pick of the Fringe winner. Marco has performed at The Los Angeles Comedy Festival, The Chicago Improv Festival, the Atlantic Fringe festival, Toronto Fringe festival. He worked for The Second City as an improvisor and sketch performer. He has also received critical attention for his unabashed character Vito Cazzolungo and has raised thousands of dollars for charity as this witty and frank persona.
Journalist – Graduating sum cum laude from a Radio and TV Arts program with a focus on Broadcast Journalism, has seen Marco host and produce a radio show for over a decade. Having interviewed hundreds of people as the entertainment reporter his most memorable have been: Madonna, Eric Clapton, Pavarotti, Stanley Tucci, Whoppi Goldberg, and Gena Rowlands.
Instructor – Marco has been working with teens and adults, training them in Improv ,Stand-up Comedy and for film and tv auditions with a high rate of success.
Translator – Fluent in Italian, Marco has translated various projects including a music website and a play that was an off-Broadway hit (Il Giardino/The Garden). He also has coached various actors for Italian specifics as well as characters and has acted as a dramaturge for projects that centered around Italian culture and characters.
Hand Model – Yes a skill that he and George Costanza have that in common! Marco’s hands have been featured in both National and International commercials and print. His skills as a calligrapher and black jack dealer have also been featured in both films and TV.
Tour Guide – On foot, cycle, bus and even on a chopper, Marco has been a tour guide for over a decade both in his home country of Canada and through the vineyards and olive groves of his ancesteral home of Italy. Whether it be in English or Italian his love for travel, food and history is evident from his work as a tour guide.
Emcee/Commentator – For four years in a row, Marco was co-commentator for the Canadian Culuninary Federation’s Junior Chef Competition. As well as for a sleuth of companies that desired a strong, pleasant and entertaining voice and persona to represent their message and or product.
